As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and long term planning at origin, we would like to share an update from Café Selva Norte in northern Peru, reflecting on the 2025 harvest and outlining priorities for the seasons ahead.

A standout 2025 harvest

From CSN’s perspective, the 2025 coffee harvest marked a milestone year for the organization. It was the strongest season recorded to date, distinguished not only by volume, but also by the uniformity of growth and the consistency of supply throughout most of the campaign.

This performance was reflected across producer engagement, commercial operations, and export execution, reinforcing CSN’s role as a reliable origin partner within the ElevaFinca ecosystem.

Managing peak season storage pressure

During the peak of the harvest, particularly from the second half of August onward, CSN faced recurring storage saturation at its warehouse. This challenge has been observed over the last two harvests and coincides with the height of cherry intake and processing activity.

To manage this pressure, the team implemented close coordination between the plant and warehouse operations. Space utilization was optimized by prioritizing full container shipments rather than partial loads, giving precedence to key customers, and working closely with cooperatives to consolidate complete lots. This approach allowed for faster inventory rotation and reduced congestion during the most critical weeks of the season.

Evaluating solutions for future harvests

Looking ahead, CSN’s management and board are actively evaluating solutions to address storage limitations during peak harvest periods. Among the options under consideration is the expansion of existing infrastructure, which would increase on site storage capacity and reduce the operational risks associated with saturation.

Infrastructure and technology priorities

Beyond storage capacity, CSN’s forward strategy places strong emphasis on improving its processing line, with a clear focus on final product quality and consistency. One of the key priorities under evaluation is the integration of additional technology such as electronic color sorting. This would allow CSN to increase processing efficiency, strengthen quality control, and further standardize export ready coffees.

Looking ahead

The 2025 harvest confirmed CSN’s operational strength while also highlighting areas where additional capacity and technology will be critical to support continued growth. These reflections are shaping ongoing internal discussions and future investments aimed at ensuring that CSN remains a reliable, high quality origin partner for years to come.

As always, ElevaFinca will continue to work closely with CSN to align infrastructure planning with buyer needs, market dynamics, and long term sustainability goals.
